TRACING A RED THREAD THROUGH TIME IN HELSINGØR – SKETCHPROPOSAL FOR DOWNLOAD
This urban installation, awarded through an open call by the Danish Art Council in 2018,
was born from a vision to weave history into the city’s present-day landscape.
The proposal, now available for download, reveals the conceptual foundation
behind the work—four interconnected elements forming a red narrative line
through Helsingør and its cultural hub, Toldkammeret.
Inspired by the city’s maritime heritage and the former Customs Chamber’s historical
role in Øresund, the installation reinterprets the past in a contemporary urban context.
The deep Oldenburg red, drawn from the Royal Danish Customs House sign, serves as
both a symbolic marker and a visual thread—bridging time, place, and identity in Helsingør’s evolving cultural story.
